Dale Owen joined Ascentra Credit Union in August 1999 and is the President and CEO. Before becoming President in September of 2013 he worked as EVP, Chief Lending Officer. In his position at the credit union, Owen provides leadership, direction and guidance to ensure the mission statement and goals as determined by the board of directors are accomplished. A self-proclaimed "reformed banker" Owen began his career in 1988 working in various positions for the former First National Bank of Moline. He has also worked as branch manager for the former Brenton Bank, Davenport, home equity manager and assistant cashier at the former Bank One Quad Cities, Moline, and mortgage loan representative for Marquette Bank, Galesburg.
He received his master's degree in public administration from Drake University in Des Moines, bachelor's degree in public administration from Augustana College in Rock Island and associate degree in banking & finance from Black Hawk College in Moline. He also holds the Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation from the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES). He has graduated from the CUES CEO Institutes conducted at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University; and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Owen is actively involved in the community serving as President of the Iowa Credit Union Foundation, board of directors for Community Business Lenders Service Company, LLC, board of directors for Quad City DollarWise, Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) MPF National Advisory Council and serves on the Augustana College Alumni Board. He has served on the CMGMI National Insight Panel, Iowa Credit Union League Payday Lending Task Force, past president and board member of the Great River Chapter of Credit Unions, past treasurer and board member of the Davenport Neighborhood Housing Service and past board member for the Quad City Credit Association. He has also been involved in the community as a volunteer for Children's Miracle Network, Junior Achievement, United Way of the Quad Cities, Boys & Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity and Bethany for Children & families. His awards and recognition include the National Lending Award presented by CUNA, Iowa Credit Union League's Cooperative Spirit Award, and QC Mayor's DollarWise Outstanding Professional Contribution Award.
